BRIEF: Introduce and educate a global audience about the various sub-genres of Soca music.
Celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of Caribbean Carnival culture through bold and energetic design.
Make the learning process fun, interactive, and visually memorable.
Target Audience: People outside of Caribbean culture.
SOLUTION:
I developed the brand, Play Soca. They are a set of 6 educational flashcards that teach the user about the differences between the sub-genres.
I designed a charcter for each island, reflecting the bold, lively spirit of Carnival through th bold colours which relate that country’s flag and the wide stance.
I wanted to use design to visualise the concept of music being able to transport us mentally. So I designed two posters that show an isolated character listening to music and then a group of characters enjoying themselves on a Caribbean beach.
